ECFA_Logo _Main _web Small

Please find below a draft copy for consultation of the new 2017-2021 ECFA Strategic Plan outlining AoC Sport’s direction of travel for the development of FE football over the next four years. We ask all members, stakeholders, league entrants, partners and students to read the survey and complete the short consultation survey to help us define our work and goals to 2021.

DRAFT COPY OF STRATEGY

Consultation Survey

We want this journey to be shaped in consultation with our members, customers and key partners; and invite you to send us your feedback via a short survey. Meeting the needs of our stakeholders is important to us and we are committed to meaningfully consulting and engaging with all those who are members of or partnered with our organisation.

Our strategic planning process includes three phases of consultation starting with a wide scan and finishing with a focus on detail.

Phase 1:
This is a 40 day consultation which launched on 1st March 2017 and runs until 12th April 2017; forming the first phase of our strategic planning process. This phase will include an open survey for all stakeholders to complete. This gives all stakeholders the opportunity to tell us what they think of our strategic plan for 2017-2021 and inform us of what is important to you over the next four years.

Phase 2:
Within the second phase, we will strengthen our strategic plan by reaching out to a range of groups who will be impacted by our work. Through further focus groups and personal engagement, we will provide an opportunity for a range of key stakeholders to help shape our plans. This will include presentations at AoC Sport regional meetings, meetings with key partners and phone calls with key stakeholders.

Phase 3:
In the final phase, we will work with our staff team and ECFA Committee to finalise the strategic plan and ensure maximum connectivity with operational plan. We recognise our annual operational plans are subject to vary dependent on the Sport England and FA investment AoC Sport receive from the summer 2017. Therefore our plan will be both agile and ambitious. We will also feedback directly to all those who have contributed to this consultation on how your views have helped shape our future plans.

It is important to be aware that this is a strategic plan which outlines the strategic direction that ECFA will set out to achieve and how we aim to do this working with our members, stakeholders and partners; this is a strategy we cannot deliver alone. Operational detail is not contained within the strategy document; instead it is housed within annual implementation plans.

If you have any queries about the content or process of this consultation, please email a member of the Football Development Team at AoC Sport via the details below.

A New Strategy for FE Football:

Our current ECFA strategy expires in June 2017, providing a timely opportunity to review and define the direction of travel for the development of FE football over the next four years. We want this journey to be shaped in consultation with our members, customers and key partners. Due to the changing landscapes of both FE and sport; there is a need for the strategy to be both ambitious and agile in order to remain relevant for the duration of its shelf life. Meeting the needs of our stakeholders is important to us and we are committed to meaningfully consulting and engaging with all those who are members of or partnered with our organisation. During this item we will review the current draft strategy and seek members views through an interactive group think session.

With the development of a new AoC Sport organisational strategy underway, the launch of The Football Association’s new company strategy to 2020 and the release of our national sports strategy: Towards an Active Nation; FE football has an important role to play over the next four years. In line with the sector strategy Fit For College, Fit For Work, Fit For Life; football is contributing to the education, employment and health outcomes for students and colleges.

We recognise the ongoing challenges, opportunities and changes within our sector and the need for us to evolve how AoC Sport promotes, supports and delivers FE football to build on our successes and meet the developing needs of our stakeholders.

With changing landscapes in both Further Education and sport together with opportunities arising from our close partnership The Football Association and commercial partners; it is more important than ever for AoC Sport to prioritise what we do through football, to utilise our resources effectively and demonstrate our impact and real value for money.

We have ambitions to grow our work across all four pillars of ECFA: competitions, participation, workforce and community; with the ECFA Committee leading our direction of travel in close consultation with members and our stakeholders. We aim to actively involve as many people as possible in this process and see this strategy formation as an open conversation with our stakeholders right up to when we finalise and launch our plan in May 2017.
